To properly apply a pubic lice treatment that works, you need to be thorough, and use the right product with medical ingredients. There are many potions, oils, and myths (see the picture on the right - don't use these!) about what works.
There is discussion that the pesticides and chemicals that you can purchase over the counter in drug stores also are no longer as productive - as lice have grown some immunity to them.
We recommend purchasing a natural shampoo, registered with the FDA and produced in a professional facility, rather than someone's basement. Lice can be painful and frustrating, and unless done right, a first attempt to kill the problem, often doesn't work.
Follow the directions of the shampoo, which will involve properly lathering up the infected parts of your body. Leave the solution on for 5-10 minutes, and then wash off thoroughly with water.
However, treating your body is only half of the equation. You also need to treat your home. Lice can live for days without a source of food (by the way, that source of food is your blood). They can live in bedding, clothing, and more. Some people suggest thoroughly washing these things to rid lice - this can work, however lice are resilient, and it's easy to miss some. If you're not going to use the proper shampoo, we recommend putting any poessessions which may contain lice, into plastic bags for a few days. Without a source of food, lice will die, and your home will be lice free.
